Access to Justice for Forced Migrants /  28 April 2020 /  2285 views

The principle international instrument to deal comprehensively with the rights of children is the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The Convention, which came into force more than twenty years ago, places on States the obligation to ensure that children enjoy all rights set out in the convention without discrimination irrespective of their status. But to what extent has that obligation been met when it comes to refugee children living the urban slums of Kampala, East Africa? I am Still Running', explores the situation of refugee children from their own perspective. Two refugee children interviewed fellow children and Service Providers to establish whether their peers are benefiting from the protection they are entitled to. Watch the video to see the lived realities of refugee children, and to understand what more needs to be done to ensure that they are able to fully enjoy their rights as children.
